Coming into the day, Tiger Woods was mired in the 96th spot. Some questioned whether or not he’d make the cut. He had been quoted saying that “Yesterday was one of my worst days of putting ever”.
So what does he do today? He nearly holes three eagles, no that IS NOT a typo, three eagles. He only managed to finish one of them, a chip in from just off the green. But the other two were very nearly made. One putt died off right in front of the hole, and the other putt banked off the back of the cup.
You talk about insane. The man was 7 under through his first seven holes and looked to shoot a 29 on the front nine. Which he would have done if it had not been for the bogey on his ninth hole.
Even still, Woods was 6-under already, only nine holes through his second round. Was a 59 possible? Definitely.
Woods’ putting was a lot better than yesterday, as he was consistently giving 25-40 foot putts a shot at going in. His driving accuracy was great, he hit a green in one, a 337 yard par-4. He seemed to put it all together today. But will he keep it up through the weekend?
Normally Tiger has been known to lurk until the 3rd day, and then make his charge.
However, when he atop the leaderboard at such an early juncture(as he is now, T5th – 4 strokes back), he tends to finish very well. I’m crossing my fingers for Tiger, I’d definitely like to see him get the win. I think it is a definitely possibility. Especially as this is the final Buick Invitational, a tournament that Tiger has had a lot of success at.
How do you think tiger will fare? Let me know.
In other Buick Invitational news, John Daly shot a second round 88(+16), and shot a 51 on the back nine. Not one of Daly’s best moments, was he perhaps not all the way there today? Because honestly, that is a score that I could possibly shoot.
